This last weekend the whole SpeedFactory crew and I went out to Pacific Raceways for "PINKS ALL OUT". As always we were told the day before that we had a spot available so the scramble was on. We had the car on the dyno on thursday and everything went very smooth. The car is making great power with no issues. We showed up to the track on Friday with 2 cars, the SC HB and the SP HB from the Sipes brothers. Here are some pics and video from the day.

We are extremely proud to be a part of helping the Sipes' with their naturally aspirated street car project. They have put in long hours researching and working on the chassis and motor. It has been a project that I have had the privilege of watching from the very start. We are optimistic that this car will be very competitive in the All Motor Street class this year at Woodburn, OR and also Fontana, CA later in the season. Waterwerks Car Show

Update:

So we rushed to close up shop Fri evening and got to the track 1.5 hrs before they closed. Then I couldn't do my licensing passes because we forgot to put the tranny blanket back on in the rush to get to the track!

They let me make a few runs though. Very few people there, 85-90* out, track prep wasn't very good, waterbox was so bad I couldn't even do a proper burnout.

We left the bone stock Z6 tranny in the car for the shakedown runs, so I wasn't expecting anything amazing timewise since it's open diff and the gearing doesn't match the setup at all, plus the fact it's an all new setup that'll need some bugs worked out.

As usual there were a few small issues with the new progressive shift light that we are trying geeking out (you can see it in the videos geeking out the whole time), and with the FTS causing the car to bog horribly on the shifts. So we just turned off the FTS, I ignored the new shift light and lift shifted instead of full-throttle shifting it on the last 2 runs.

I got 2 decent passes in right as they were closing. 10.5, 10.6 @ 136-137mph, shifting to 4th ~50ft before the line. We are very happy with the times considering the bad track prep, bad burnouts, and spinning all through 1st & 2nd with the stupid tall 3rd gear dropping the car out of the powerband and taking me the entire length of the track, then hitting limiter in 3rd trying to avoid the shift to 4th. Boost dropped to ~22psi on the shift to 3rd then gradually climbed to 25psi at 8500-9500rpm.

The last pass (10.6) I was all crooked in the burnout box and the car went sideways immediately so I didn't get a real burnout. I tried to launch a little less agressively thinking it was gonna blow the tires off, and it bogged instead. That run would've been a 10.4 otherwise.

All in all it went within a hair of last years best runs being peg-legged with horrid gearing and track conditions, so I'm super happy with it.

With what we saw, the car is definitely going to run low 10's no problem, with 9's in reach. Once we get the good tranny in the car and have a decently prepped track, the times are going to drop dramatically.

New 4 Bar Map Sensor from Speedfactory!!!

Speedfactory 4 Bar MAP sensors use state of the art bipolar op amp circuitry with thin film resistor networks built into each micro chip. Pressure changes are calculated on a true linear 0-5 volt scale via a specially designed silicon pressure sensor that also compensates for temperature changes. The unique ability to compensate for temperature changes allows our MAP sensor to remain a minimum of 99% accurate from 32 degrees F to 180 degrees F through out its range of scale. With the true linear pressure vs. voltage scale there is never a need to re-tune at different altitudes as with other sensors. Speedfactory 4 bar MAP sensors can precisely calculate boost pressure from 1-43+ psi while still allowing smooth stock OEM drivability at any boost level. Conveniently packaged in an OEM dimensional housing for easy install and an OEM look.

Dyno results of Vitara build

I was so excited by the test results yesterday, that we decided to stay late tonight and do a bit more tuning. We only intended to finish the tune up off the WG with the 59500 cam, but got caught up in it and upped the boost a bit. The Bisi cam will go in at a later date.

So, after some cam gear adjustments, it made 451whp/281tq @ 19psi.
Absolutely incredible, exceeded my expectations by miles. I never though a D16 could make so much power so easily!

Then we upped it to 25psi and called it good for now. There's plenty left in it, but we stopped here for the moment.

SpeedFactory Racing 2009 Vitara Build

Well, we toyed w/the idea of going sleeved/forged this year, but decided to do another Vitara build instead and just step things up a bit from the old setup. We'll see how she holds up!

We are hoping for low 10's-high 9's at 142+mph this year. 500+whp.

We just got it up and running in basic NA form, all seems good. 19-20in/vac, idles perfectly. We performed the break-in and Dyno tuned it in NA form just for kicks, now it's time to build the turbo setup!
